چکیده

The Space Weather and Terrestrial Hazards (SWATH) experiment is a small, lightweight and inexpensive payload designed to place into 10wearth orbit a set of instruments for measurement and study of local space hazards. The SWATH instrumentation is designed to utilize the bus being developed for the Miniature Sensor Technology Integration program. The mission has three major scientific objectives: 1. to track and measure space debris in low-earth orbit; 2. to monitor, track and study large disturbances originating at the Sun and propagating to the near-earth environment; 3. to monitor and study the activity of the solar corona.

A field investigation of application of digital terrestrial photogrammetry to characterize geometric properties of discontinuities in open-pit slopes

In order to analyze the slope stability in open-pit mines, the structural parameters of rock mass such as persistence and spatial orientation of discontinuities are characterized through field surveys, which involve spending high costs and times as well as posing high risks of rock toppling and rock fall. In the present work, a new application of terrestrial digital photogrammetry is introduced...

Terrestrial background radiation studies in South Konkan, Maharashtra, India

Background: The natural radionuclides are always present in soil and care needs to be taken to minimize the radiation dose to humans. These radionuclides are mostly gamma ray emitting radionuclides which contribute to the radiation dose in long term behavior of radionuclides in soil. Health hazards associated with natural radioactivity are of great concern and it is necessary to assess risk due...

Conducting Science with a CubeSat: The Colorado Student Space Weather Experiment

Energetic particles, electrons and protons either directly associated with solar flares or trapped in the terrestrial radiation belt, have a profound space weather impact. A 3U CubeSat mission with a single instrument, the Relativistic Electron and Proton Telescope integrated little experiment (REPTile), has been selected by the National Science Foundation to address fundamental questions perta...

A trypsin inhibitor cDNA from a novel source, snail medic (Medicago scutellata L.): cloning and functional expression in response to wounding, herbivore, jasmonic and salicylic acid

A cDNA clone coding for the trypsin inhibitor MsTI from snail medic (Medicago scutellata L.) was isolated by RT-PCR using poly(A)+ mRNA purified from immature seeds. A partial cDNA fragment was produced using degenerated oligonucleotides designed from the available MsTI amino acid sequence. The full-length cDNA was obtained by RACE-PCR experiments. A putative signal peptide for subcellular loca...
